Summary
In this unfolding Planetary Age, the traditional boundaries that have long defined human identity—nation-states, religious calendars, and politically drawn maps—are increasingly out of step with the interconnected reality of our times. Identity, for most of us, has been inherited: shaped by our gender, citizenship, religion, ethnicity, or even our favorite sports team. These categories have meaning, but they no longer suffice to express our evolving consciousness as inhabitants of one shared world.
At the Alternative Planetary Futures Institute, inspired by the tradition of Integral Futures, we believe that building a planetary civilization requires a parallel reimagining of the self. This is where the Terran Profile comes in.

About
Terran Profile Overview
Source: Beyond Knowledge by William Halal
A Terran is someone who, while still honoring their other identities, chooses to identify first as a being of Earth—a Terran. This identity expresses a deep awareness of planetary belonging, ecological responsibility, and a shared future in the Space Age. Being Terran does not erase your past—it enlarges your sense of self to include Earth itself, all of humanity, and the web of life.
The Terran Profile is more than a symbolic gesture. It is a meaningful step toward a new civilization—one aligned with planetary consciousness, nature’s cycles, and ethical co-existence. Here, we count time not from the reign of kings or religious events, but from the moment we first saw Earth as one planet—the Earthrise photo. We name days by their relationship to Earth’s rhythms—equinoxes and solstices—rather than imperial calendars. And we describe place not by colonial borders but by latitude and longitude. Your Awakening Day marks when you first became conscious of this planetary identity.
Each Terran Profile includes:
Birth Name and Terran Name: Honoring your origins while expressing your planetary self.
Awakening Day & Year: Based on a reimagined calendar that begins with Earthrise.
Approximate Location: Marked in geocoordinates.
Bioregions Touched: How many planetary zones your life has intersected.
Ethos / Purpose / Inner Calling: A personal declaration of how you serve planetary civilization in the Space Age.
Weblink: If available, to provide further context or contributions.
This profile is a living document—an evolving expression of who you are becoming in alignment with the Earth and cosmos. We invite you to join this transformation.

Walter Truett Anderson
Walter Truett Anderson (born February 27, 1933) is an American political scientist, social psychologist, and author of numerous non-fiction books and articles in newspapers and magazines.
In his public lectures, he frequently speculates that, if we had a history of every advanced species in the universe, we would find that they all had to pass through two large, difficult and unavoidable transitions: accepting conscious responsibility for the future of all life on their planets, and recognizing that their systems of symbolic communication—such as language and mathematics—don’t merely describe reality, but participate in creating it.
